Exhibition at Fjöruhúsið

The works on exhibit are all from 2022. They are divided into two different series, that are original yet strongly connected to previous works of the artist.

On one hand is the series “Kvennaþing”, which can be translated as “Women’s Congress”. It consists of works symbolic of the community and solidarity of women, emphasizing their diversity. The Kvennaþing series is crafted with tufting/punch needle technique.

The other half of the exhibition is a series of thematic works referred to as ”[jaija]” a phonetic version of Icelandic multi-porpose word “jæja”. The works are inspired by every day actions and troubles. They represent an alter-ego, yet leading an independent life filled with hopes, dreams and desires. The [jaija]-series is crafted with tufting/punch needle technique as well as embroidery.
